Established as a family residential domain by Aga Khan I (Aga Hasan Ali Shah) in 1848, Aga Hall emerged as Bombay was evolving into a mercantile centre nearly two centuries after its islands became the dowry of the Portuguese princess Catherine of Braganza to King Charles II of England.
